Back Valley Hut

Back Valley Hut is a basic four-bunk hut in Fiordland National Park, in the Lake Manapouri area. It’s operated by the Department of Conservation and is intended for backcountry use, with sleeping in the hut and first-come, first-served use—no bookings are required.

The hut has four bunk beds and includes a fireplace. The hut also has toilets with pit-latrine disposal, while drinking water is not provided—plan on bringing your own water and supplies for an advanced backcountry approach. The typical trip time is about 4–5 hours round trip to the hut, and the official map sheet reference is CE07.
