Beachside Boulders

Beachside Boulders is an Arrow Lakes bouldering area beside Scottie’s Marina on Broadwater Road in the West Kootenay. The compact roadside setting includes about 68 boulder problems, with parking at the first large pullout on the south side of the road.

The climbing is on high-quality gneiss and spans varied movement and difficulty, from beginner-friendly lowballs to tall highballs, aesthetic lines, and established classics. Low Water Layback is listed at V1, while the area’s problem list includes examples such as Muscle Beach (V5), Sunken Ship (V4), Jedi Mind Trick (V2), and Doukhobor Dyno (V6).

Many problems sit directly beside Arrow Lake. Reservoir levels can flood the lakeside boulders; older area guidance places numerous problems underwater from June into early September, making low-water periods the key window for a full visit. Inspect landings and committed features before pulling on, and avoid climbing on wet rock.
