Bottom Misery Hut

Bottom Misery Hut is a Department of Conservation standard 6-bunk backcountry hut in the Leatham Conservation Area (Marlborough region). It’s accessed by walking from Greigs Hut, about 12 km one way and roughly 6 hours travel time.

Use is first come, first served—no standard bookings are required. To stay overnight, you need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (one honesty box ticket per night), or a Backcountry Hut Pass if you have one. Fees apply (adult $10 per night, youth $5 per night, child/infant free), and the hut has a mattress, a fireplace, and toilet facilities using a pit latrine system.
