Branch Bivouac

Branch Bivouac is a basic DOC backcountry hut in the Leatham Conservation Area (South Marlborough). It has two bunks and is designed for simple bivvy-style stays rather than full facilities.

Bookings aren’t required; use is first come, first served. The hut has mattresses and toilets with a pit latrine disposal system, and there’s no drinking water and no fireplace—plan to arrive self-sufficient for water and cooking heat. You can access it by walking from Greigs Hut (about 22 km one way, with an estimated 10 hours one way).
