Carroll Hut

Carroll Hut is a standard 10-bunk backcountry hut in Arthur’s Pass National Park, operated by the Department of Conservation. It’s a straightforward hut stop on multi-day trips around the Hokitika area, with pit latrines on site and mattresses provided for sleeping.

Use is first come, first served—no standard booking is required. Fees apply: $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4); to stay overnight, buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut. There’s no drinking water and no fireplace provided.
