Casey Hut

Casey Hut is a Department of Conservation 12-bunk backcountry hut in Arthur’s Pass National Park. It’s a serviced hut and is used overnight as part of the two-day Casey Saddle – Binser Saddle Route, and also by mountain bikers reaching the hut from the Poulter River Track.

The hut opened in 2020, replacing an earlier Casey Hut that burnt down in 2015; the current hut site is about 800 m east of the old site on a terrace above the Poulter River. Fees apply and serviced bookings are required, with no spaces kept for arrivals without a booking. The hut has drinking water that needs treatment, a kitchen area and a fireplace, mattresses on sleeping platforms, and toilet facilities with pit latrine disposal.
