Cass Saddle Hut

Cass Saddle Hut is a basic three-bunk backcountry hut in Craigieburn Forest Park (Canterbury region), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for simple overnight use in the North Canterbury and Arthur’s Pass area, with a fireplace and sleeping gear provided (mattresses).

Use is free and no bookings are required—access is first come, first served. The hut has toilets (pit latrine) and no drinking water is provided. Expect an advanced/experienced level objective; typical trip duration is 2–3 days.
