Christmas Flat Hut

Christmas Flat Hut is a four-bunk backcountry hut in the Glacier area of Westland Tai Poutini National Park, run by the Department of Conservation. It’s a first-come, first-served standard hut, and you use it by putting a paid hut ticket for each night’s stay into the honesty box at the hut (no booking required).

The hut supports up to four people and includes mattresses, with a fireplace and toilets (pit latrine style). Rates are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4).

For planning, use the official hut ticket and pass options for your dates; rates change from 1 July 2026, with new hut and sole-occupancy fees applying from then.
