Coppermine Creek Hut

Coppermine Creek Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Haast, Paringa & Moeraki Rivers area on the West Coast. It’s a standard eight-bunk hut for overnight use, with stays handled on a first-come, first-served basis (no hut bookings required).

Sleeping is in bunks (mattresses provided), and it has a fireplace plus a pit latrine toilet. Drinking water is untreated, so plan to treat it before use.

DOC charges hut fees via a Standard Hut Ticket placed in the honesty box for each night: adult (18+) $10 per night, youth (5–17) $5 per night, and child/infant (0–4) free. Adults and youth should carry the right ticket type for their stay; alternatives like a Backcountry Hut Pass are also accepted for eligible users.
