County Stream Hut

County Stream Hut is a Department of Conservation basic six-bunk hut in the Waitaha River area on the West Coast. Use is free and no bookings are required; it’s first come, first served. The hut has mattresses and an outhouse, and drinking water is untreated; there’s no fireplace provided.

The hut sits on a route that is no longer maintained by DOC. The route receives sporadic maintenance by Permolat. If you’re planning a trip, bring water-treatment methods and be ready to travel without DOC-maintained track support.
