Cromel Base Hut

Cromel Base Hut is a basic six-bunk backcountry hut in the Eyre Mountains / Taka Rā Haka Conservation Park area. It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and is intended for short basic/bivvy stays.

Bookings aren’t required—use is first come, first served. The hut has six beds, no fireplace, no drinking water, and an outhouse with a pit latrine. Access is through private property, so you need to contact the owner a day before entering due to farm operations and stock movements.
