Cullers Hut

Cullers Hut is a standard four-bunk backcountry hut in Ruataniwha Conservation Park (Canterbury), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for first-come, first-served stays (no standard bookings required).

Fees apply, and you must buy a Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night’s stay, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period. The hut has 4 bunks, and it includes a fireplace; there’s no drinking water provided, and toilets are a pit latrine. Cullers Hut is about 6–7 hours (19.5 km) up the Hopkins valley from Ram Hill carpark, at the end of Lake Ohau Road.
