Dibbins Hut

Dibbins Hut is a historic emergency shelter on a snow plain in Alpine National Park, near the headwaters of the Cobungra River, used as a backcountry stopover on the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing corridor. Camping is on the designated tent platforms near the hut; sleeping inside the hut is not for regular use—bring your own tent and plan to camp at the platforms or disperse nearby if you’re not using a booked platform.

The hut/campsite area is accessible for hiking from November to April, with winter (June to October) typically buried under snow and suited only to experienced ski-tourers. Platform camping requires pre-booking, with camping fees applied for the platform sites; if you don’t book a platform, free dispersed camping is generally possible in the surrounding area as long as you pitch well away from the platforms. Campfires are restricted under alpine fire regulations, and dogs, firearms, and bicycles are prohibited in this zone. A drop toilet is available near the site—bring your own toilet paper.
