Federation Hut

Federation Hut is a remote Parks Victoria wilderness hut used as an emergency refuge and backcountry campsite in Alpine National Park, just below Mount Feathertop. It’s reached on foot with no direct road access, and the hut area provides a place to set up camp while you continue toward the summit area.

Parks Victoria manages the site. It’s a simple weather shelter with camping space, and the campsite includes a water supply feature and eco-friendly composting toilet facilities. The area is set in alpine bushland (among snow gums) where conditions can turn harsh, so plan for cold, exposure, and limited reliable water outside the hut setup.
