Doughboy Bay Hut

Doughboy Bay Hut is a standard eight-bunk backcountry hut managed by the Department of Conservation in the Stewart Island/Rakiura area, within Rakiura National Park. It’s a first come, first served hut—no standard bookings are required—and you sleep on provided mattresses.

Use is designed around hut tickets: for a stay, buy one Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut. The hut has untreated water that needs boiling before use, and there’s a pit latrine toilet; a fireplace is available.
