Dumpling Hut

Dumpling Hut is a Department of Conservation Great Walk hut on the Milford Track in the Fiordland National Park (Arthur Valley). It has 40 bunk beds (mattresses in a communal sleeping layout) and is set up for basic self-catered stays, with a communal kitchen and solar lighting in that area.

During the Great Walk season (1 November–30 April), the hut provides water supply, flushing toilets, wash basins with cold running water (no showers), and heated accommodation with fuel available. Bookings are required in the Great Walks season. Outside the Great Walks season (1 May–31 October), bookings aren’t required; facilities are reduced, gas cooking is not provided (bring a stove of your own), flush toilets are replaced with pit toilets, running water inside is turned off (water is available from an outside tank, otherwise from a nearby watercourse or by melting snow), and there are no conservation rangers based at the hut. Beds operate on a first-come, first-served basis outside the Great Walks season.
