Dunns Creek Hut

Dunns Creek Hut is a basic four-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation in the Kelly Range–Styx River area of New Zealand’s West Coast. Use is free and bookings aren’t required; beds are first come, first served.

The hut is in Dunns Creek basin in the Taipo valley area, accessed by the Dunns Hut Route that starts downstream of Mid Taipo Hut on the true left of the Taipo. The route follows river flats down from Mid Taipo Hut, crosses Hura Creek, then the track edges into the bush, climbs a gut, and crosses a low bush saddle into Dunns basin before continuing onward on to Newton Saddle and Newton Creek Hut.
