Eel Creek Hut

Eel Creek Hut is a free, basic two-bunk backcountry hut run by the Department of Conservation. It sits on the shores of Lake Monowai in Fiordland National Park and is intended for visitors accessing the lake area by boat—there’s no land access to the hut site.

Inside, expect simple hut gear including mattresses, with a fireplace and toilets provided (pit latrine). Bed nights are first come, first served; no bookings are required.
