Forks Hut

Forks Hut is a basic four-bunk backcountry hut in Mavora Lakes Conservation Park (Southland region), operated by the Department of Conservation. Use is free and no bookings are required—stays are first come, first served.

The hut has mattresses and a fireplace, plus an outhouse (pit latrine). The rough track from the Mavora Lakes camping area to Forks Hut is suitable for mountain biking, but it isn’t recommended for 4WD vehicles.
