Freds Camp Hut

Freds Camp Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut on Stewart Island/Rakiura in Rakiura National Park. It’s a standard 10-bunk hut and it’s set up for first come, first served use rather than standard bookings.

The hut is supplied with mattresses, a fireplace, and toilets (pit latrine). Water is untreated, so boil before use. A standard hut ticket is required for each night you stay (buy it in advance and place it in the honesty box at the hut); a Backcountry Hut Pass can also cover use for an extended period.
