Route Details

Glacier Lake Emergency Shelter is a backcountry emergency shelter operated by Parks Canada in Auyuittuq National Park. It’s intended primarily for emergency use; other overnight stays are handled through backcountry camping arrangements rather than relying on the shelter.

There is no online reservation process specifically for Glacier Lake Emergency Shelter. Before you enter the park, Parks Canada requires mandatory in-person safety orientation, registration, and payment of park fees through the park office in either Pangnirtung or Qikiqtarjuaq; plan on about 3 hours for the in-office orientation/registration. For planning and fees, contact the park offices at least two weeks before your trip (Pangnirtung: 867-473-2500; Qikiqtarjuaq: 867-927-8834; toll-free: 1-888-773-8888).
