Grassy Flat Hut

Grassy Flat Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Kelly Range–Styx River area (West Coast region). It sits 12 km up the Styx River on the true left valley side and is set up as a standard ten-bunk hut for trampers on routes such as the Arahura–Styx circuit and the Browning Pass track.

The hut is designed for comfort and includes a covered deck area and two communal bunk platforms. Use is first come, first served (no standard bookings required), and you sleep in paid accommodation using the honesty-box system: buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (adult $10, youth $5, child/infant free). A pit latrine is available, and drinking water is untreated; there is also a fireplace in the hut.
