Green Lake Hut
Green Lake Hut is a standard 12-bunk backcountry hut in Fiordland National Park, located in the Lake Monowai / Borland Road area. It’s a first-come, first-served hut: no standard bookings are required, but you do need to buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period. Fees are $10 per adult night (18+), $5 per youth night (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4).
The hut sits at the southern end of the lakeside clearing, with a wood fireplace, drinking water sourced as untreated water, and toilets with pit latrine disposal. Do not take water from the lakes and waterways around Green Lake, Grebe River, or the Borland Burn area to help prevent spread of didymo; clean, check, and dry gear when moving between waterways.
