Haberles Hut

Haberles Hut is a restored historic trapper’s shelter in Tasmania’s Great Western Tiers, on the mountain slopes above Caveside. It sits on Parsons Track and was originally built around 1931 for Edward Haberle and his sons, used while tending and checking snares.

The hut is a small wooden building with a wooden floor and a stone fireplace. After the original use declined, it fell into disrepair, then underwent restoration starting in June 1981 and running for 17 months through October 1982; it was officially opened on 8 January 1983.

Use is day-use and for emergencies on Parsons Track (a bookable overnight arrangement is not provided). Plan a separate water and toilet strategy rather than relying on facilities at Haberles Hut itself.
