Kia Ora Hut

Kia Ora Hut is a backcountry hut on Tasmania’s Overland Track in Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. It’s a shared shelter for Overland Track walkers, with a sleeping capacity listed at 28 people and communal space for cooking and relaxing.

Bed access is handled on a first-come, first-served basis—there’s no ability to pre-book a specific bunk. Independent walkers need to hold an Overland Track pass and also purchase a valid National Parks Pass; during peak season (October to May), track bookings are tightly controlled. Hikers should plan for stoves use rather than open fires in the park, and be prepared with gear suited to multi-day alpine conditions, since the hut can fill quickly.
