Hall Peak
Hall Peak is a remote granite and diorite climbing destination in the Leaning Towers Group of the Purcell Mountains, south of the Bugaboos. The mountain rises to 3,048 metres and forms the highest point of the Leaning Towers Group, with the climbing concentrated on its east and northeast sides.
The area is suited to experienced alpine climbers undertaking long, committing routes. Direct East Buttress climbs 2,000 feet in 17 pitches at grade IV, 5.9+, while Upper Ramp covers 1,700 feet at grade IV, 5.9 A1. Post Credit Cookie offers a shorter option on the northeast side: a 500-foot corner climbed in four pitches at 5.10a.
Approach logistics are substantial. Access follows the Dewar Creek Trail into the Purcell wilderness, with reports describing a two-day approach; horse packers have carried equipment for the first 12 kilometres, and the final approach to the base involves moving gear through dense slide alder to a landing below Hall Peak.
