Horseshoe Flat Hut
Horseshoe Flat Hut is a Department of Conservation standard six-bunk hut in the Haast, Paringa & Moeraki rivers area in the West Coast region. It’s set up for backcountry use with drinking water described as untreated, an on-site fireplace, and toilets using a pit latrine system.
Hut bookings aren’t required and stays work on a first-come, first-served basis. A Standard Hut Ticket is required for each night’s stay—put it in the honesty box at the hut—using the blue ticket for adults and the yellow ticket for youth; you can also use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period. Fees are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4).
