Hunts Creek Hut

Hunts Creek Hut is a standard four-bunk backcountry hut in Arthur’s Pass National Park, run by the Department of Conservation (Te Papa Atawhai). It’s in the Hokitika area and is used for overnight self-contained backcountry trips.

Sleep up to four people in bunks. Water is untreated, and there’s a pit latrine. No bookings are required—stays are first come, first served, with hut tickets required in an honesty-box system (buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts). Adult fees are $10 per night up to 30 June 2026, $5 for youth (5–17 years), and free for children/infants (0–4 years).
