Iris Burn Hut
Iris Burn Hut is a Department of Conservation Great Walk hut on the Kepler Track in Fiordland National Park. It has 50 bunk beds in a communal sleeping layout and sits in a tussock clearing in the valley; it’s also described as one of three Kepler Track DOC Great Walk huts (with Luxmore and Moturau).
Bookings are required in the Great Walks season, and the hut is operated with different service levels depending on the time of year. In the Great Walks season (27 October 2026–30 April 2027) you’ll find flushing toilets, cold running water at wash basins, solar lighting in the communal kitchen area, and fuel for heating; cooking facilities are provided but no cooking utensils. Outside that season (1 May 2026–26 October 2026), gas is not provided and running water inside the huts is turned off; water may be available from an outside water tank (or from the nearest water course if needed), and toilets are pit-style rather than flush.
