Jacks Hut
Jacks Hut is a historic roadman’s cottage on the east side of SH73 in Arthur’s Pass National Park, roughly 5 km west of Arthur’s Pass township and near the Bealey Valley Walk entrance. Built in 1879, it was shifted to its current position below the summit in 1909–1910 and restored in 2004. Today it’s a backcountry hut base associated with historic transport along the Arthur’s Pass crossing corridor, with the Arthur’s Pass Walking Track running alongside the highway and passing the hut area.
