Kennedy Lodge
Kennedy Lodge is a backcountry lodge in Arthur’s Pass National Park on Brake Hill, run by the Canterbury Mountaineering Club. It’s set up for members and affiliated users, with access based on a paid booking and an email-issued combination lock code.
The lodge has two upstairs bunkrooms (one 12-bed room and one 8-bed room). Inside are fully equipped cooking facilities (electric stove and cooktops, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, cookware, and cutlery/plates), a log burner in the common area, and internal showers with hot water plus toilets. Lodge rules include paying the listed nightly fees ($20/night for CMC members; $50/night for non-members), with non-members allowed only when accompanied by a CMC member; children under 12 stay free. The access code is sent after payment and is personalised and set to expire on the day you’re scheduled to depart; there’s also a bed-management system using a whiteboard above the wood bin by the log burner.
