KIlbride Homestead

KIlbride Homestead is a historic backcountry base at the southern end of Mason Bay on Stewart Island (Rakiura National Park). It’s set up for overnight stays for groups using the house as accommodation, not as a day-use facility.

The homestead is set with two sets of bunks, two double beds, and a fold-out couch (about 8–9 guests). Indoors you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with a gas cooker, plus a coal range with a wet back; lighting runs off solar power, and there is an open fire. Sleeping gear is on you—bring your own sleeping bag and pillowcases.
