Lagoon Saddle Hut

Lagoon Saddle Hut is a basic two-bunk backcountry hut in Craigieburn Forest Park (North Canterbury / Arthur’s Pass area). It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and is set up for walkers needing an overnighter in the backcountry. The hut has no drinking water provided, but it does have toilets, and there is no fireplace.

Bookings aren’t required; use is free and it’s first come, first served. Te Araroa Trail walkers are expected to register and purchase the Te Araroa Trail Pass. Typical access is a multi-day approach (listed duration 2–3 days), and the hut is in the Advanced/Expert difficulty tier for the route approach. The hut sleeps two (two bunk beds).
