Lake Poteriteri Hut
Lake Poteriteri Hut is a standard six-bunk backcountry hut in Fiordland National Park, managed by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for straightforward hut stays with a fireplace, mattresses, and a pit latrine.
Use works on a first-come, first-served basis with no bookings required. To stay overnight, you need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (sold in adult and youth versions) placed in the honesty box at the hut; a Backcountry Hut Pass provides unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for 12 months. Adult cost is $10 per night (youth $5; children/infants under 5 are free) up to 30 June 2026, after which new rates apply. Drinking water is untreated—treat it before drinking—and visitors should take precautions to prevent the spread of freshwater pests (notably didymo) by not taking water from affected areas and cleaning gear when moving between waterways.
