Lake Roe Hut

Lake Roe Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Fiordland National Park (Fiordland region). It’s a standard hut with 12 bunk beds in western Fiordland. Use is first come, first served—standard bookings aren’t required, but you do need a hut ticket for each night’s stay (place it in the honesty box at the hut).

The hut sleeps 12 and has a pit latrine. Drinking water is untreated, and a fireplace is provided. Fees are charged (Adult (18+): $10 per night; Youth (5–17): $5 per night; Child/Infant (0–4): free). Rates change from 1 July 2026, so confirm the current fee before you go. Before travel, you can also find Fiordland National Park guidance on preventing freshwater pests such as didymo (including cleaning gear between waterways).
