Long Harry Hut
Long Harry Hut is a Department of Conservation standard 12-bunk backcountry hut on Stewart Island/Rakiura, used as a hunting base area and in Rakiura National Park. It’s first come, first served (no standard bookings required), with use fees collected via a hut ticket placed in the honesty box—or a Backcountry Hut Pass option for unlimited use at most standard and serviced huts for a 12-month period.
Facilities include sleeping bunks, a fireplace, and drinking water that is untreated (boil water before use). There’s also a pit latrine toilet system. Fees are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4). Before your stay, buy the appropriate Standard Hut Ticket for each night at the start of the trip.
