Manzanita Bluff Hut
Route Details
Manzanita Bluff Hut is a backcountry hut on the Gwendoline Hills trail section of the Sunshine Coast Trail, operated by PRPAWS. The hut sits on Manzanita Bluffs and is a partially open shelter: the main floor has two full walls that block wind coming off the ocean on blustery days, with a sleeping loft upstairs; it sleeps 10.
At-a-glance, the hut has outhouses, picnic tables, a fire pit, and a sleeping loft. It’s one-and-a-half to two hours from either end of Gwendoline Hills Trail and is described as a lunchtime destination for day hikers; it’s also used by multi-day Sunshine Coast Trail hut-to-hut travellers starting from Desolation Sound. The hut is surrounded by manzanita bushes, arbutus trees, and old-growth Douglas fir trees.
