Mid Taipo Hut

Mid Taipo Hut is a standard six-bunk backcountry hut in the Kelly Range–Styx River area on the West Coast, operated by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for first-come, first-served use (no standard bookings required).

The hut is set with mattresses and includes a fireplace. Water is available but is untreated, and toilets are provided as a pit latrine. Use fees apply, and each night requires a Standard Hut Ticket placed in the honesty box at the hut (alternatively, a Backcountry Hut Pass can cover unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period).
