Mikonui Spur Bivouac

Mikonui Spur Bivouac is a basic two-bunk hut in the Mikonui River–Kakapotahi River area on New Zealand’s West Coast, run by the Department of Conservation. It sits in tussock on Mikonui Spur and is cut and marked from the Mikonui roadend up onto a level bench on the ridge top just below the scrub limit.

Use is free and bookings aren’t required; it’s first come, first served. The hut has two bunks, toilet facilities (a pit latrine), and a nearby water source from a stream.
