Mutton Top Cabin

Mutton Top Cabin is a primitive, members-only wilderness cabin operated by Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC). It’s a small backcountry option that sleeps up to 9 people (5 bunks plus a double-width, double-deck bunk) and provides a wood-burning stove but no electricity.

Use is offline through PATC: reservations are handled exclusively by contacting PATC headquarters by phone. Booking requires being an active PATC member. The cabin is accessed via a short hike in from a shared parking area (about 0.5 miles), and the last 0.8 miles of Goose Pond Road can be heavily eroded, so a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. Bring everything you need because you must pack in and out your food, water, and bedding; pets are allowed.
