Neave Hut

Neave Hut is a standard six-bunk backcountry hut in the Kokatahi River–Whitcombe River area on the West Coast, operated by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for overnight use where you can cook using a provided fireplace, and it has a pit latrine and mattresses for sleeping. Access is first come, first served—no standard bookings are required, but you’ll need a Standard Hut Ticket (adult or youth) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut.

Fees run per night ($10 for adults 18+, $5 for youth 5–17, and free for children/infants 0–4). The hut is used on multi-day routes to Whitcombe Pass; the trip duration given is 3–4 days and the page difficulty label for that approach is Advanced.
