Otaki Hut

Otaki Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Tararua Forest Park area. It’s a small hut designed for two people, so plan to share space and expect that you may arrive to limited room.

Use follows DOC’s backcountry hut ticket system: for standard DOC backcountry huts, bookings aren’t the norm and places are operated on a first-come, first-served basis. You’ll need a Backcountry Hut Ticket or a valid Backcountry Hut Pass for each night you stay, and you put tickets into the hut’s honesty box on arrival.
