Price Flat Hut
Price Flat Hut is a standard seven-bunk backcountry hut in the Kokatahi River–Whitcombe River area of the West Coast region, run by the Department of Conservation. It operates on first-come, first-served use with no standard bookings required: you need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (or a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for 12 months).
Fees are charged and depend on age: from now until 30 June 2026, adult (18+) is $10 per night, youth (5–17) is $5 per night, and child/infant (0–4) is free; fees from 1 July 2026 change to updated rates. Plan on drinking water being untreated, there are sleeping mattresses, and the hut has a fireplace; toilets use a pit latrine. The hut is in Paparoa National Park’s Kokatahi River–Whitcombe River country with tracks to the hut taking about 3–4 days to Whitcombe Pass, rated advanced.
