Rapid Creek Hut

Rapid Creek Hut is a Department of Conservation standard hut in the Kokatahi River–Whitcombe River area (West Coast). It’s a four-bunk hut intended for backcountry stays where no booking is required—use is first come, first served.

The hut uses honesty-box payment: Standard Hut Tickets are required for each night’s stay (adult blue, youth yellow), with a Backcountry Hut Pass option for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period. Fees are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4). The hut has mattresses, a fireplace, and pit latrine toilets, but it doesn’t have drinking water.
