Refuge d'Ascu-Stagnu

Refuge d'Ascu-Stagnu is a backcountry alpine hut in Parc Naturel Régional de Corse. The hut can host up to 32 people and sits at an elevation of 1422 m, with use managed by the park. It is part of the GR20; for the GR20’s third stage (Carozzu – Ascu Stagnu), there is no water along the route, and the lake Muvrella is not fit for consumption.

For the GR20 approach described for this stage, expect a varied trek that includes the Spasimata footbridge, a climb past Lake Muvrella toward the Bocca di Stagnu pass (2010 m), then a descent through a laricio pine forest to the hut area.
