Ruahine Corner Hut

Ruahine Corner Hut is a standard six-bunk backcountry hut in Ruahine Forest Park, run by the Department of Conservation. It’s a first-come, first-served hut for standard bookings; buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period. From 30 June 2026 onward, rates change, so check the latest fee schedule before you go.

Inside, the hut has water from a tank, a woodstove as the heating source, and an outhouse/latrine system (pit latrine). Facilities also include mattresses, plus a fireplace/wood-burning setup. Use is supported by the hut ticket system: adult (18+) $10 per night, youth (5–17) $5 per night, and child/infant (0–4) free (current rates through 30 June 2026).
