Te Wake Tops Hut

Te Wake Tops Hut is a small, private backcountry hut on Owhaoko BD Trust land in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. It’s a 3-bunk hut with open tops and a few native bush pockets around it, and it’s set up for helicopter access.

The hut is equipped with a gas cooker plus pots/pans and basic cutlery/crockery. Pricing is structured around a night land fee plus a service fee, and stays are only available during the hut’s open periods (closed annually from December 20–March 1 and from June 1–September 30). Bookings are arranged through the helicopter-hunting-block booking process, and permit rules apply to hunting activities while you’re in the block.
