Tin Hut
Tin Hut is a small backcountry musterers’ hut in the Avonburn Station area (elevation 930 m) that’s open for public use. It provides sleeping for up to 5 people (4 mattresses in bunks) and is set up with an old wood-fired oven; there is also a fireplace.
Facilities are basic but practical: drinking water is available, there’s a longdrop toilet, and the hut includes mattresses. Use is free and no reservation is required, though many people prefer camping outside in fine weather.
