Toaroha Saddle Bivouac is a basic, two-bunk backcountry bivvy in the Kokatahi River–Whitcombe River area of New Zealand’s West Coast. It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and is intended for hut-style overnight use on multi-day trips (first come, first served; no bookings required).

Sleeping is in two bunk beds, and the hut has a pit latrine but no drinking water and no fireplace. Expect it to be an advanced/expert-level objective with a typical trip duration of about 4–5 days, so plan to be self-sufficient and carry all water and cooking heat you’ll need.
