Top Maropea Hut

Top Maropea Hut is a DOC backcountry hut in Ruahine Forest Park. It’s a basic four-bunk hut set up for straightforward hut stays with first-come, first-served use; bookings aren’t required.

Inside, there’s a water supply from a tank, and an open fire for heating. The hut has toilets with pit-latrine disposal, and the water is untreated. The hut is free to use, and it has an historic bush-carpenter background dating to construction work in 1958 (with building materials parachuted in).
